The bar is open to serve water, beer, wine etc. every day, but the times above are our cocktail hours.
The kitchen is open monday – saturday 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM (friday from 4:00 PM)
The shipyard Aalborg Vaerft A/S was founded in 1912. The shipyard was located just east of Pier 5 Hotel, and the hotel’s bar has been named VAERFT in honor of the shipyard’s and the old port’s history.
VAERFT is much more than a hotel bar. VAERFT is Aalborg’s new local cocktail and dining bar, the place where you can unwind with the colleagues after a long day, the place where you meet before the concert, the place where innovative cocktails and the amazing atmosphere offers new ways to meet.
The ambition is clear, VAERFT Cocktail and Dining Bar wants to develop spectacular cocktails and small plates that engages all your senses. And we do this using molecular methods and international themes never before seen on Aalborg’s bar scene.

A new concept
Small plates and curated cocktails
VAERFT is no longer just a cocktail bar – now, we are also a dining bar.
With our new concept, we invite you to stay all evening. At VAERFT it’s all about customizing your experience exactly how you would like it.
Our menu is made to be explored. The small plates can easily be combined, so you can decide the tempo and the volume – regardless of if you want a light snack, a full meal or a long evening with food and drinks. We recommend ordering a few small plates and share at the table, so you get the chance to taste a little bit of everything.
So where do you start?
We recommend our delicious menu “The Evening Ritual”, that consists of:
Risotto balls + sliced italian cured ham + crispy confit potato wedges + 1 glass of wine or beer = 345 DKK
How to put together your meal at VAERFT:

2 small plates – for the small appetite or as a supplement to cocktails

3–4 small plates – equals a meal (also ideal for sharing)

5-6 small plates – for the bigger appetite or to share throughout the evening
No matter how you choose to compose your evening, our staff is always there to help with recommendations – both regarding the food and the perfect drink to match.

A tradition on the harbor
Every friday VAERFT invites you to our amazing “friday bar” at Aalborg waterfront – often with festive music from 4 PM – 6:30 PM.
The bar opens at 3 PM, so you can get a table before the music starts.
The whole team looks forward to offer you spectacular friday cocktails, small plates and lovely music, and of course the always formidable atmosphere.
If you are a bigger group, don’t forget to book a table to ensure there is space.
We love to kick-start the weekend with all our lovely guests both in-house and external.

At VAERFT you will quickly experience that a cocktail is more than just a cocktail – it’s a spectacular experience that appeals to all your senses. It’s the combination of the balanced flavor of quality and danish produced spirits, the fresh sent of organic citrus fruits, the beautiful, colorful and well-intented garnish and the shaped feel of the handmade ceramic cocktail glasses.
When it all comes together in the same moment, you will suddenly discover why VAERFT is not just an ordinary hotel bar – but a completely unique meeting place where different people come together for a spectacular cocktail experience.

The pier is a part of the experience
At VAERFT the waterfront is drawn all the way inside and becomes an important part of the overall experience. As an extention of the cocktail bar, the warm hotel lounge offers various cozy areas. Let yourself sink into a soft armchair or couch and enjoy the tranquillity in front of the fireplace with a view of the fjord.
In the summer, you can take your cocktail out on the cozy terrace and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and beautiful views.
Meet the stars behind VAERFT
Mette Marx Christensen
As bar manager Mette finds her inspiration in the streets of Aalborg, the city’s stories and its moods. Ideas for new cocktails often occurs on strolls through the city, where past and present comes together in tales, she turns into flavor.
The work is always based on the season and its flavours together with great craftmanship – every cocktail is made to give a taste of the mood and story behind it. The expression is unceremonious and casual, but with the attention to detail and her heart poured into it.
For Mette her craftmanship is about presence and authenticity, and her hope is, that the guests not only tastes the great quality of the cocktail, but also her love for the city.
Kamilla Kristensen
The woman behind VAERFT’s small plates, Kamilla, always works with the senses as the center. Colors and scents are her biggest sources of inspiration, formed by her many travels, meetings with people and quiet moments – often in the middle of the night, where her ideas and thoughts flows freely.
Seasonal ingredients plays a crucial role in the creation of the small dishes, that are constantly developing.
Kamilla is driven by curiosity and the desire to adjust and refine. For her, food is about more that just flavor – it’s about comfort, presence and about giving the guest a special ecperience.
With an ever-seaking and dreaming approach, she creates small dishes with thoughtfulness and creativity.
