Ships have been coming to dock at Aalborg pier for hundreds of years now. This is where the ships come to leave behind the barren ocean winds and the crashing waves and where the crew can step onto dry land again. In the past, it never took long for the seafarers’ tales from distant shores to be retold on dry land.<\/p>\n

And today, despite the fact that sails have been replaced with engines, wooden boxes have been replaced by storage containers and nautical charts are now GPSs, it is still the same water that splashes against the pier, and whenever a boat docks, it still sparks a thirst and curiosity for tales from the sea.<\/p>\n

The air is heavy with a salty sea breeze when you arrive at Pier 5 Hotel. Despite the dim lighting, it is clear that the hotel is a kind of extension of the port out there. A container-inspired wall and the exposed ceiling installations deliver on the hotel’s name and promise – you have arrived at the Port of Aalborg, with all that this entails. Here and there you come across small surprising treasures and details that make it difficult to pinpoint exactly what era you are in.<\/p>\n

In the hotel’s warm lounge, you can explore different zones from different eras. Let yourself sink into a soft armchair and enjoy the soft music playing on the turntable, sample drinks from VAERFT Cocktail Bar’s innovative cocktail menu with its exciting interpretations of cocktails from around the world, or enjoy the tranquillity in front of the fireplace with a view of the fjord.<\/p>\n
